Not surprisingly, after his impressive World Cup performance, several of the Premier League’s most high profile teams have been sniffing around Antoine Griezmann, Real Sociedad’s 21 year-old left-winger.
Griezmann recently refused to sign a new contract at his current club (he has two years left) and the rumour is that the player’s buy out figure is £24 million.
So who is in the running to buy the clearly very talented player?
Liverpool have apparently had their eye on him for a while, however the rumour is that they have only offered £20 million pounds, £4 million off the price of his release clause.
Chelsea are also apparently keen on the left winger. If the club release Obi Mikel for £10 million, this would not only open up a space for Griezmann but it would also part fund an offer for him. The Blues remain fvourites to land the Frenchman, but with three high profile players already landed this summer and the runours about a Khedira to Chelsea move hotting up, Griezmann might be less of a priority.
Tottenham are also reportedly considered matching the winger’s £24 million release clause. The key issue for Spurs is that they almost certainly need to offload a lot of dead wood before they add players.
Arsene Wenger is allegedly a fan of the player, and money-bags Monaco also apparently have the Frenchman on their radar.
Paddy Power’s odds are currently in favour of Chelsea to bag him, followed by Monaco. However, we will have to wait as he is currently on a post-World Cup and will only be returning to Spain a week from Monday.
